November = Heavy Swings!
After reading a blog written by Tommy Blom http://www.tommyblom.com/the-beast-month/, I have been wanting to try a month of heavy swings. I did not want to change my current program, Pavel's ROP, but wanted to increase the weight of my swings. My last 5 minute snatch test with a 24kg I was able to achieve 84 reps. This test was performed on an easy day following my clean and press ladders. This month I have decided not to snatch during my ballistic training. Instead I will focus on hard, strong swings with the 36kg. I did a 10 minute test today with single arm swings and hit 148 reps. I expect these numbers to get a lot better over the next month. My plan is use this time to get stronger, increase my hip snap and improve my grip endurance. I am also curious to see how much I can improve my snatch test scores without snatching. At this point it is difficult to know how this will affect my overall performance. I will say, without a doubt, I will come out of this month better and stronger than I entered it!
